About Densmore Church
Densmore Church, Inc. is a non-profit organization, being a religious corporation under the laws of The State of New York. It was set up in 1996 to restore and preserve the historic 1902 building that was home to the Densmore United Methodist Church and before that, the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Wellesley Island, New York.
The historic building is maintained as a non-denominational chapel for use by the community. The facility is available for weddings, baptisms, memorial services, appropriate meetings and group activities, and to host concerts, exhibits, and family events. During the summer, concerts are held every Sunday evening and New Life Christian Church holds worship services there on Sunday mornings. (Concerts and church services have been canceled for this summer due to the pandemic.)
Densmore Church has been supported by the Thousand Islands community for many years, and since 1995 by The Friends of Densmore, All donations go toward the maintenance and improvement of this historic building, which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988. You can become a Friend of Densmore with a contribution of any amount, although most Friends join at the $100 level. Any and all Friends are entitled to attend the annual Friends Appreciation Dinner in August.
Densmore Church is governed and operated by a volunteer board of trustees.
