Look what's happening at Densmore Church

Densmore hosts a series of ten Summer Evening Concerts underwritten by our generous Sponsors, local business that have elected to "give back" to their community in this way. Concerts are free and open to the public; a free will offering is taken at intermission.

Rick Manning and Naomi Sommers

Rick Manning and Naomi Sommers share a passion for traditional and original bluegrass music and harmony singing.  Rick Manning plays the fiddle and mandolin, performing bluegrass, swing and contra dance music.  Naomi Sommers is a singer-songwriter who plays guitar, banjo, mandolin and flute.

Gary Walts

Gary Walts a classical and fingerstyle guitar player.  His repertoire includes familiar classical guitar pieces and contemporary pop tunes.  He learned to play guitar from well-known guitar teacher Ron Sacci.  In the late 1980's, he studied guitar for three summers with Christopher Parkening at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, PA.  He currently teaches guitar and performs regularly in the north country.

Open House/Art Sale

For Heaven's Sake

Women's quartet For Heaven's Sake, based in Watertown, will perform four-part harmony in the barbershop style.  Members of For Heaven's Sake ar Lynn Blakeney, singing lead; Mary Ann Wert, baritone; Katie Taylor, bass; and Lorie Autote, tenor.  For Heaven's Sake may be joined by other musical guests.

The Friends of Densmore Appreciation Dinner in August of 2020 was meant to be a celebration of the 25 years that the Friends have worked to support Densmore Church, Inc.  Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible to safely manage such a gathering and still keep it the gala occasion it should be.  ...

Jim Burr & Kathy Sommer

Pianist Jim Burr and violinist Kathy Sommer offer a repertoire that includes Jazz, Americana, Celtic, Argentine tango, Brazilian chorus and light classical music.  Jim Burr is known locally as a solo pianist for a variety of events, performing in multiple genres.  Kathy Sommer, a member of The Buskers musical group, has been recorded on serveral CDs, performed with several ensembles, and has taught violin and offered fiddle workshops.

Avimimus

Avimimus is made up of vocalists Alexandra Kassouf and Lauren McAllister.  Alexandra Kassouf has been praised as "truly a one-of-a-kind artist, possessing exceptional gifts in singing, dancing, movement, and stage presence."  Lauren McAllister is a lyric mezzo-soprano based in Cincinnati, Ohio.  The duo sings about all things natural, supernatural, whimsical and wacky, approaching their art with authenticity, humor and curiosity.

South Bay

South Bay performs acoustic covers of blues, pop, country and bluegrass songs, plus original songs by Alan Hutchinson.  Known for their tight harmonies and uplifting performances, the band plays regularly for events at local venues.  Band members are Alan Hutchinson, Phil Pennington, Chris Rosier and Erin Greene.  Jim Rooney often joins the band to play upright bass, mandolin and banjo.
